Nishinomaru Garden features around 600 cherry trees, including someiyoshino (the most popular variety of sakura (cherry blossom) in Japan) and around 95 kinds of Japanese apricot flowers. Nishinomaru Garden is located within the greater Osaka Castle Park between the Outer Western Moat and the Inner Moat of Osaka Castle. Nishinomaru Garden was opened in 1965. It is the site of the former residence of Kita-no-mandokoro (wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a Japanese ruler in the 16th century).
